A Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment of Nova Scotia’s Lobster Fishing Industry

Nova Scotia is Canada’s number one exporter of seafood, with American lobster (Homarus americanus) as the most economically prominent fishery. Understanding climate change vulnerability is an important step to guide planned adaptation. With support from the Nova Scotia Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, CMAR conducted a climate change vulnerability assessment of the lobster fishery by combining biophysical metrics and information from lobster harvesters for assessment, at the Lobster Fishing Area (LFA) scale.
