Estimating oyster spat development and settlement time with growing degree days

CMAR has developed a growing degree day (GDD) dashboard to estimate oyster spat development and settlement time, for select locations around the Maritimes. This information guides the deployment timing of wild spat collectors, to increase seed supply for grow-out. The GDD dashboard can be accessed here or by clicking on the image below.

This project is an outcome of collaboration between CMAR, DFO Gulf Region, and oyster growers, applying the results of a CMAR-Mitacs funded Dalhousie MSc thesis. For more information on this initiative, or to be added to an email distribution list for related information, please email info@cmar.ca.
