Aquaculture Development Area in Municipality of District of Argyle

The Province of Nova Scotia and the Municipality of the District of Argyle have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore the potential of an Aquaculture Development Area (ADA) for shellfish and marine plant aquaculture.

ADAs identify areas for potential marine aquaculture development through a science-based collaborative review process. Ecological, economic, and social data are being collected and analyzed to identify areas suitable for aquaculture in the waters in and around the municipality.

CMAR chairs the Argyle Aquaculture Development Area Data Committee (AADADC) and supported a student through the Mitacs Accelerate program to collect data to be used in the analysis.
